July 2010 – Jamie J’s Essay Published in Chapbook

Jamie J’s essay, Pimp Ring has been published in the chapbook, “Through the Bars: A Workshop on Objects and Memorials for Individuals Affected by Incarceration.” The chapbook is a collection of works written by participants that attended a writing workshop called Memoirs and Memorials. This workshop was led by Dee Johnson, published writer/poet and Pennsylvania Prison Society Managing Editor and Angel Hogan, Philadelphia Poet and award-winning storyteller. The workshop was part of the 26th Annual Celebration of Black Writing which was made possible by Art Sanctuary and First Person Arts (May 2010). The chapbook was designed and produced by Dee Johnson June 2010.

Art Sanctuary uses the power of black art to transform individuals, unite groups of people and enrich, and draw inspiration from the inner city. It is the sponsor of the Annual Black Writing Festival.
